Lou Papera represents and works closely with institutional and individual investors, owners, asset managers, property managers and brokers in connection with acquiring, leasing, operating and selling commercial properties, with a particular emphasis on office properties. He has represented landlords in the negotiation of significant office leasing transactions and has represented both sellers and purchasers in major purchase and sale transactions. In addition, he has experience with telecommunications issues involving commercial properties, including negotiating license and access agreements, as well as with construction and development of commercial properties. Lou also represents owners and operators of private clubs in connection with development and operational issues.
Lou is a native of West Caldwell, New Jersey. He received his B.A. from American University in 1997 and his J.D. from Emory University in 2000. At Emory University, Lou was a managing editor of the Bankruptcy Developments Journal and is the author of “Confusion over § 522(d)(11)(D): What Congress Really Meant by Exempting Payments for ‘Personal Bodily Injury’ and Why They Got It Wrong,” 16 Bankr. Dev. J. 503 (2000). Lou is a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Georgia, the Atlanta Bar Association and the Association of Young Real Estate Professionals.
